RULES OF THE CANYON

THUNDER CANYON IS A BURRIS TIRE SPEC TRACK.

ALL KART CLASSES MUST RUN BURRIS SLICK TIRES.

MUFFLERS ARE OPTIONAL.

THUNDER CANYON will be using WKA engine tech rules again in 2010.  Mufflers are optional.  All competitors are subject to tech inspection at any time for any WKA engine rule.
 

THUNDER CANYON USES THE NO-STOP RULE FOR POST-CAUTION RESTARTS.  Any kart that causes a caution or comes to a stop before the yellow comes out will start on the tail of the next restart.  Blatent rough driving will be penalized with the BLACK FLAG.  Intentional contact with another kart resulting in a caution:  The kart making the contact will also start on the tail of the next restart.

RULE VIOLATIONS WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF POINTS AND PAYOUT FOR THE EVENT IN QUESTION.  FREQUENT VIOLATIONS MAY RESULT IN SUSPENSION AND/OR FINES. 

BOX STOCK RULES:
$200 Claimer rule now in place for the Box Stock/Clone class.  Only the winner can be claimed by any lead lap finisher or the Track.  Exhaust, clutch, air filter/adapter, motor mount, and fuel pump plate stays with the original owner.
Any Honda "Clone" engine up to 6.5 H.P.
All OEM components inside and out including carburetor and flywheel
Carb jet may be drilled and governor may be removed
Aftermarket air filter and adaptor may be used
Aftermarket header may be used
Remote fuel tank with pulse fuel pump may be used, must pulse from the valve cover or block
Drum type clutch MUST be used
Kart and driver must weigh at least 350# after the race
94 Octane pump gas or less ONLY!

All Classes
ANY KART FINISHING IN THE TOP THREE  MAY BE PROTESTED BY ANOTHER DRIVER/OWNER IN THE SAME CLASS FOR A FEE OF $150.   IN THE CASE OF PROTEST;

     1)  THE PROTESTED DRIVER MAY DECLINE THE PROTEST AND BE SUSPENDED FOR 1 WEEK PLUS LOSE ALL POINTS AND WINNINGS FOR THE PROTESTED EVENT AND PAY A $100 WAIVER FEE TO THUNDER CANYON.  THE PROTEST FEE WILL BE RETURNED TO THE PROTESTER.

     OR

     2)  THE PROTESTED DRIVER MAY SUBMIT TO THE PROTEST.  IF THE KART IS FOUND LEGAL,  THE PROTESTED DRIVER WILL RECEIVE $100 OF THE PROTEST FEE.  THE TECH MAN WILL GET THE REMAINING $50.  IF THE KART IS FOUND ILLEGAL,  THE PROTESTED DRIVER WILL LOSE ALL POINTS AND WINNINGS FOR THE EVENT.  THE TECH MAN WILL RECEIVE $50 OF THE PROTEST FEE AND THE REMAINING $100 WILL BE RETURNED TO THE PROTESTER.  THE PROTESTED DRIVER WILL BE SUSPENDED UNTIL A $100 WAIVER IS PAID TO THUNDER CANYON.

 Poor Man's Karting Club Rules:

Engine: Harbor Freight stock engine: $119-$159. Yellow Clone engine stock: $119-$159.(No Dover Stage 2 or 3 allowed) Stock out of box only. May change air filter, jet, header pipe with muffler. Must run drum clutch: $55. Must run Burris tires. You have a choice of trophy or money in this class but it is a class for 100% stock and for fun. No big money races. Payout will be paid out on amount of karts in class. Kids kart: must weigh 250 lbs. and use blue or purple restrictor plate. Adults kart: must weigh 350 lbs. with no restrictor plate. Kids must wear full face helmet, chest protector, gloves eye protection, and a long sleeve shirt or jacket. Adults must wear full face helmets, gloves, eye protection, and a long sleeve shirt or jakcet. Winner's engine may be claimed by lead lap kart for $175 minus clutch, jet, air adapter and filter, header pipe, muffler and throttle kit. You get only what came in the box from the factory. All suggestions are greatly appreciated and will be looked at seriously to make this a fun, low budget sport.
